Come take in the beauty of Hilltop Hanover Farm as it celebrates "Pumpkin Day" on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10-4. The grounds are free to enjoy.

Enjoy the outdoors at Hilltop Hanover Farm!

What are you doing on Saturday? Instead of watching a college football game or letting your children play on the Internet all afternoon – go outside! Grab a sweater, and you will be fine! Come on over to the Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown Heights and celebrate "Pumpkin Day" on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 20 will give you a great opportunity to enjoy your local gem on Hanover St. Guided tours of Hilltop Hanover Farm will be available from 11 to 2. During the tour you will be able to see the progress of the new chicken house. (If you are interested in helping to finish the chicken house renovation, tell your guide.) Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic or pick up lunch in town. There are acres of land to enjoy so there is plenty of room to spread out!

You can also choose a pumpkin for carving (nominal fee) or visit the farm stand to pick some great ingredients for a fall soup. Stay and hike the trails or follow the quest trail. The opportunities are endless, and the views are spectacular!

If interested, you could also order your “Thanksgiving Vegetables Box.” For $45, HHF will provide a box with freshest Thanksgiving vegetables. These side dishes will serve four adults.

For the latest information about Hilltop Hanover Farm, visit its website at hilltophanoverfarm.org. The 187-acre property is owned by Westchester County and is managed by cooperative agreement by the Friends of Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
