Town Board okays next step for Highway Garage/Depot Square project

Town Board voted unanimously to proceed with the next step in relocating the highway garage and doing an environmental study of the current site prior to selling it. Town ended 2012 with a $1.2 million surplus.

1. Financial Update
The outside auditors presented their findings on the town’s 2012 audit. The year ended with a $1.2 million general fund surplus and the town is in very good financial shape.
 
2. Capital Budget
Supervisor Grace has prepared a list of “needed” capital projects totaling $2.93 million.
 
3. Town web site
The Board gave assistant planner Robyn Steinberg the okay to proceed with a redesign of the town’s web site.
 
4. Towing bid
Unable to reach a decision on awarding the towing bid due to conflicting vetting reports, the Board delegated further vetting of the two bids to the town attorney, with a decision expected on September 3.
 
5. Sludge removal bid
Awarded a bid to eliminate the sludge composting operation on the Hill and instead have a vendor truck out the dried sludge.
 
6. Highway garage/Depot Square
Voted to advertise two RFPs:  to hire an architect to design the new buildings and an environmental consultant for the Phase II study.
