Planning Board: New recreational facilities proposed for Mohegan area

The proposed new subdivision in Mohegan Lake will include 3 "pick a ball" courts and a basketball court. Planning Board supports rezoning only 30 acres of the 100 acre State Land site on Route 202.

1. BJ’s Wholesale Propane Facility
After meeting with the Fire Advisory Board, the applicant has revised the plan for above ground propane storage tanks. The Planning Board is still weighing the pros and cons or above versus below ground tanks.

2. Fieldstone Manor
At the request of the Recreation Commission, the applicant will construct three “pick a ball” courts and a basketball court on the land set aside for recreational purposes. The applicant will retain ownership of the tower.
 
3. State Land Rezoning
The Board reviewed the draft memo to the Town Board that supports the rezoning of the southern portion of the site along Route 202 to commercial, but leaves the more environmentally sensitive northern 70 acres as residential so that it can be preserved as open space.
