Granite Knolls parkland alienation plan hits snag

Town Board lacked the needed third vote to pass the state Senate home rule message but may try again at a special meeting next week. Tax receiver suggested a tax amnesty program. Board to consider policy on installing speed humps on selected streets

1. Tax Amnesty proposal
The tax receiver presented a plan for a tax amnesty program that would waive the interest and penalty charges when back taxes are paid.
 
2. Speed humps
The board will consider a policy that establishes criteria for installing speed humps.
 
3. Parking issues in Heights hamlet
The board discussed some possible short term solutions to the lack of adequate parking in the hamlet that creates problems for small businesses.
 
4. Highway Department trucks and capital projects
What started out as a discussion on purchasing four new trucks for the Highway Department morphed into a broader discussion on bonding for a series of capital projects.
 
5. Parkland alienation/Granite Knolls
The alienation home rule request stalled when Councilman Patel refused to support a needed new resolution and only three board members were present to vote.  Supervisor Grace and Councilman Murphy may try again for a vote at a special meeting to be called next week.
 
6. Shallow Creek
The board discussed moving forward on the proposal to grant a license or franchise to a group that will reopej the par 3 golf course;plus a restaurant and ice skating rink..
 
7. Special election law
Because there was no quorum, there was no discussion on the latest version of the proposed law.
