Town Board Summary, March 20, 2012

Highlights: CSEA contract approved with lump sum payment and salary increase; $14,300 stipend given to an employee; road paving plans for 2012; attorney approved for Highway Superintendent

1. Road paving
Highway Superintendent DiBartolo discussed paving plans for 2012 based on current budgeted funds, and the board discussed the need to set priorities if and when additional funds become available for more paving.
 
2. Taconic bridge closure
Police Chief McMahon discussed preparations for handling traffic and emergency situations during the eight month construction period.
 
3. Energy saving rebates
Rebates are available for refrigerators and washers, as well as free home energy audits.
 
4. Drainage issues
Supervisor Grace will be taking a “road trip” with the highway superintendent to check out problem areas.
 
5. CSEA contract
The board approved a contract for 2009-2011 that includes a lump sum payment and a raise.
 
6. Creative Living (Navajo Fields)
Staff has expressed concern that the ever changing plan for the fields has not been subject to a thorough site plan review because the existing town code does not require one for this type of use.
 
7. Legal services
The board approved the selection of attorney to represent Highway Superintendent DiBartolo in the lawsuit against him.
 
7. Personnel
   a. Appointments: A new code enforcement officer and two new police officers.

   b. Salary stipends for two employees, one for $14,300, pending county approval of their new civil service titles.
