Town Board Reviews Rezoning for 132 Housing Units, Nursing Home and Retail Space

Board reviews rezoning request for 20 acre Bear Mountain Triangle site with 132 housing units in 66 2-family townhouses, plus a 104 bed nursing home and 8,000 sq. ft. of retail space.

1. Signage issues
Gave the Mohegan Lake based Tea Temptations business permission for a 90-day temporary sign; suggested that the owners of Underhill Plaza rethink their design for a directory sign for the 18 tenants; and discussed the need for amendments to the Town’s sign law.
 
2. SCORE presentation
Heard a presentation about  free counseling services for small businesses that are available from the Putnam/Northern Westchester chapter of SCORE, a nonprofit volunteer association of retired or still working business owners and/or executives.
 
3. Mandalay Rezoning Request (Old Crompond Road)
Reviewed a conceptual plan to rezone 20 acres, south of the proposed Costco, for a mixed use development to include 8,000 square feet of retail space, 132 units of residential housing (66 2-family townhouses), and a 104 bed nursing home. No action was taken pending the submission of a formal application.
 
4. Fieldhome
Accepted a payment of $191,305 in full satisfaction of unpaid taxes and other charges based on a 2000 agreement.
