Town Board Discusses Full Agenda: Summary

Town Board reviews: forest management plan, Route 202, road paving, new computers, building permits fees, changes in approval authority, new purchasing law, lifeguards at Sparkle Lake - and much more.

Highlights of a busy meeting.

1. Computer Upgrades. The board discussed the pros and cons of using recycled cartridges for its printers and also its annual plan for computer hardware upgrades.

2. Wood Street. A possible redesign of a portion of the intersection.
 
3. Plans for a new Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT) were unveiled.
 
4. Road Paving. Highway Superintendent DiBartolo would like $583,803 funding to pave more roads. He presented a list of the 15 roads most in need of repair.
 
5. Lifeguards at Sparkle Lake. The Recreation Commission doesn’t support the idea.
 
6. Legacy Ballfields. The town will lose $11,000 in revenue when the Yorktown School District uses the multi-purpose field.
 
7. Building Permit Renewal Fees. A revised fee schedule was reviewed.
 
8. Proposed local laws to be scheduled for public hearings

  • Changing how the Town purchases goods and services
  • Allowing a recycling facility in the Oseola Industrial Park
  • Allowing a dome at the Lexington Ave/Route 202 batting cage site 

9. A Forest Management Plan for Sylvan Glen, Granite Knolls and the State Land property, combined with a discussion of regional drainage needs along the Route 202 corridor.
 
10. Advisory Boards. Creation of a Citizens Board for Budget Oversight/Capital Projects & General Ledger
 
11.IBM Helistop. Changes made in proposed text. A new hearing will be advertised.
 
12. Approval authority in OB zones. Supervisor Grace says that the proposed shift in approval authority was “too nuanced for anyone to understand” and he suggests a compromise.
