Town Board: Delays DPW Hearing and Reviews New Links to Trail System

Town Board rejects call to set dates for DPW meetings, reviews links to trail system, decides on new fuel monitoring system for town vehicles, and reviews amendments to Landmarks Preservation Law.

1. Fuel Master
The board decided to spend approximately $54,000 for a new fuel monitoring system and Supervisor Grace wants to get a “better handle” on the number of vehicles in the town fleet.
 
2. Emergency Generators
The Board decided on the size of generators to be purchased for Town Hall and the YCCC but additional decisions need to be made before the Town goes ahead with the actual purchase.
 
3. Trail system
A 900 foot link to the Sylvan Glen trail from Route 202 at Stony Street and a grant to establish a trail link from Downing Drive to FDR park were discussed.
 
4. NYS DEC Forest Management Grant
The board will okay submitting an application for a grant to improve the GIS maps of the town’s open spaces.
 
5. Landmarks Preservation Law
A public hearing will be advertised for amendments to the law governing the landmarking procedure and membership on the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
 
6. Fire lanes at Police/Court complex
A local law establishing no parking fire lanes will be advertised for a public hearing.
 
7. Department of Public Works
The board refused to set dates for both an informational meeting and a public hearing on the local law that would start the referendum process required to replace the elected highway superintendent position with a DPW.
 
8. Town Board Meeting Change
The board voted to cancel its July 3 meeting.
