Highlights of Town Board Meeting, 2/14/2012

Highlights of 2/14/2012 Town Board meeting: Longer time period for temporary COs, renewing building permits, helipad and new parking lot at IBM.

1. KVS online purchase order software
The board authorized the supervisor to spend $18,000 to begin phasing in the use of the software for some departments. The cost for giving the remaining departments online access to the software could cost an additional $18,000, but possibly less.

2. Temporary Certificate of Occupancy
The board plans to amend the existing TCO provisions in the Zoning Ordinance to allow initial TCOs for 180 days instead of the current 90 days.

3. IBM
Two new improvements were discussed: the construction of a helipad on the lawn in front of the visitor parking lot and an expansion of the employee parking lot to handle a planned increase in the number of employees. The helipad will require a change in the Zoning Ordinance.

4. Review of major development plans: Town Board or Planning Board
Supervisor Grace proposed that approval authority for “major” developments should be transferred to the Town Board from the Planning Board.

5. Building Permit Fees
The board will review legislation dealing with the renewal of expired building permits and also reduce the fee for renewing permits.

6. Emergency Generators
Dan Ciarcia, a local engineer, presented a plan for the location of the generator at the . Supervisor Grace asked him to submit a proposal to do more work associated with finalizing the plan. A generator for Town Hall was put on hold.
