5-Year-Old Girl Revived After Falling into Pool at Yorktown Home [Video]

Child transported to the Hudson Valley Hospital Center.

A 5-year-old girl is reported to be in stable condition after she was pulled from a pool at a Yorktown home Friday afternoon, said.

Several kids playing at a residential pool party on Rustic Ridge Court in Yorktown noticed the girl, who police said is from the Bronx, was floating under the water.

The child's parents pulled her out of the pool and a police officer started performing CPR when he arrived at the home, officials said. Two members of the and two Empress Yorktown paramedics arrived at the home and continued to perform advanced life support measures.

The child was transferred to the Hudson Valley Hospital and has since been revived. She is now at the Westchester Medical Center's pediatric intensive care unit due to the seriousness of her condition, officials said.

"The important thing is [the child] is stable," Yorktown Police Lt. Kevin Soravilla told Patch. "We're wishing for the best for the child right now."

The incident occurred at about 12:36 p.m. Responding Yorktown police officers were Larry Eidelman and Matthew Iacona. Responding paramedics were Rich Ulrich and Marcello Cutonili.

Editor's Note: The police reported the girl is 6-year-old, but paramedics reported the girl was 4 or 5 years old.

So sad...the little girl passed away on Sunday at the Westchester Medical Center, where she was taken off life support. Here is the updated story: http://patch.com/A-vSrn

So very sad for the family. We have a pool in our backyard and you have to be vigilant and be ready to respond at the drop of a dime.. A pool is a great thing to have but with it comes a HUGE amount of responsibility. None of my daughter's friends are allowed over unless they can swim and one of their parent must be present. Just can't chance it. So sad something that could have been prevented with a life vest on.
