By Tom Perrino

The No Limit Ballers, a summer lacrosse team comprised of 6th and 7th graders from Yorktown, Cortlandt and Arlington, ended their season on July 21, 2013 in the Stowe Lax Festival. The Ballers played five 45-minute games in this two day tournament held in Stowe, Vermont.

The Ballers were 3 and 1 in the seeding round, out-scoring their opponents 34 to 12, with their only loss handed to them by Royal Lacrosse in a 7 to 5 thriller.  Royal is an elite club team comprised of players from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont and New York.

The Ballers’ record earned them a #2 seed and a rematch with Royal in the Championship Game, their second Championship Game in this four tournament season.  Under the direction of Scarsdale HS Varsity Coach Tim Weir, the Ballers avenged their earlier defeat with a 5 to 3 victory, highlighted by end-to-end defense, a ball control offense and dynamic team chemistry.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Weir and Coach Ethan Fox, the Ballers’ methodical and lethal attack was led by Reese Andrews, Vincent DiNotte, Ryan Ferrara, Alex Fraioli and Ben Meyers; face-offs were dominated by Blake Borges, Keegan Doller, Dante Esposito and Antonio Zeolla; the midfield was patrolled and controlled by Tyler McDonald, Tommy Weaver and Brian Weir; a smothering defense was spearheaded by Sean Laukaitis, Chris Perrino, Naim Sinanaj and Brendan Williams; and the team’s lockdown goaltending was provided by Daniel O’Meara and Dennis Rugar.
