Westchester Native Elton Brand Might Go to the Knicks: New York Post

Basketball power forward Elton Brand is a free agent looking for a new team and the New York Knicks are looking at him, according to The New York Post.

It's a scenario that would please his former coach at Peekskill High School, according to Post writer Marc Berman:

“If this happens, this would be amazing,’’ longtime Peekskill High coach Lou Panzanaro told The Post. “He always indicated he would love to finish his career in New York, his last contract, in the twilight of his career. You never know how things are going to go. His mother [Daisy] hoped the same thing. Early in his career, she didn’t want him here because of the distractions. Chicago and L.A. were fine.’’

Brand, who was injured in 2007, spent the last NBA season playing for the Dallas Mavericks.

Brand talked to Patch in August 2012 when he was in Peekskill running his annual kids' basketball clinic. Read that interview here.
