Huskers Win Thriller

No. 1 Yorktown (15-4) added to its legendary lore when it defeated No. 2 John Jay (12-7) in overtime 9-8 at White Plains High School on May 30 in the Section 1 Class B boys lacrosse championship game.
Yorktown sophomore attackman Connor Vercruysse (3G) tallied the game-winning goal with 1:36 left in overtime off an assist from Marquette-bound senior attackman Conor Gately (3A), giving the Huskers their 35th sectional crown, the most in sectional history.

UMass-bound junior attackman Nick Mariano (2G, 2A), Brian Prestreau (2G) and Frank Fusco (2G) and Austin Graham (eight saves) filled out the boxscore for the Huskers.

Next Game
The Huskers will now play Section 2 champion Queensbury in the regional title game at Clarkstown South High School at 6 p.m. on June 2, also according to MSG Varsity.
