Yorktown senior Conor Gately

Q. What does it mean to you to have your senior night end on a win?

A. It is kind of weird. I have looked back at other guys doing this go through senior night and it never really hit me that I was going to have this night. It's hard that this is my last game playing with this group of guys on this field but at the same time it's a new chapter for me.

Q. How did it feel to set up everybody like you did tonight and what were you doing right that enabled you to do that?

A. I was just trying to get everyone involved. Senior night a lot of the seniors get to play who don't usually get to play as much. I was just trying to make sure that everyone got their chance and basically just moved around, tried to find the open man and put it on their stick.

Q. What did Suffern do in the second half that gave you problems?

A. They were just capitilizing on the mistakes that we were making and we never capitilized on the mistakes they made. We didn't play well today and it showed. At this point in the season, if you have a bad day you're going home. It's a lesson that we learned. We have to come back strong on Saturday (7:30 p.m. at Somers, regular-season finale).

Q. What does it mean to be part of this senior class this year?

A. It's a good group of guys. A couple of us have been together since like third grade and a couple of guys have joined us in the last year. We will be friends for a long time. We have had a lot of fun together. It is a shame today we had to walk away with a loss.

Huskers Top 'Pac

Yorktown defeated visiting Mahopac 5-2 on May 10, handing the Indians their first league loss of the season according to Vincent Mercogliano's well detailed piece on the LoHud Baseball Blog.

Hornets Win

Lakeland's baseball squad won at Peekskill 11-4 on May 8.

Patrick McKiernan was the winning pitcher with Matt Wright, Chris Conklin, Dan Phillips and Andrew Martinez all getting two hits apiece according to MaxPreps.com.
