Garden City is No. 1 in LaxPower's national computer rankings and at Hofstra University Wednesday evening in the state Class B semifinals it showed Yorktown why. 

Yorktown came out looking to avenge last year's loss to Garden City but fell to the Trojans 14-4 according to MSG Varsity's Isaac Cass' twitter feed. Yorktown coach Dave Marr told Cass after the game "They are the No. 1 team in the country for a reason."

All-American Conor Gately scored two of the Huskers four goals in the final game of his Yorktown career against Garden City. He will now play his next meaningful contest in college at Marquette.

Connor Vercruysse and Nick Mariano also scored for the Huskers.

Series Tied Up

Yorktown graduate Cassie Reilly-Boccia ('08) and her University of Alabama softball teammates evened up the Women's College World Series championship finals at one game a piece with a 8-6 victory on Tuesday night against Oklahoma according to its website.
