The Huskers were determined to make sure that didn't happen again.
Led by Marquette-bound Conor Gately, they certainly did just that.
Yorktown jumped out to a 5-1 first-quarter lead and was never threatened in a 11-6 triumph against the visiting Indians on May 1 in front of a huge crowd at Charlie Murphy Field.
Gately showed why Marquette wanted him as he put on a show, by scoring five goals and dishing out four assists. He said the credit to his fine showing goes to his teammates, who got him the ball in the right spots each and every time.
"We just played a good, all-around game," Gately said.
The Huskers were off to the races 54 seconds into the game when they scored the first goal of the contest, which was registered by Joey Raniolo (two goals), with the assist coming from Gately.
"Conor is just a very good player," Yorktown coach Dave Marr said. "He happened to get some goals today. Usually he is more of a feeder."
Joining Gately and Raniolo in the scoring column were Connor Vercruysse (two goals), Austin Fusco (one goal and one assist), Nick Mariano (one goal) and Danny Manning (one assist).
Austin Graham made eight saves in goal for Yorktown.
