Con Ed Award

Yorktown pentathlon athlete Aidan Fullerton earned the prestigious Con-Ed Scholar Athlete Award according to this well-detailed story by James Carlucci of LoHud.com.

State Qualifier

Yorktown's Joe Verticchio tied for third in the high jump in Division I in the first day of the boys state qualifier at Arlington High School on May 31 according to LoHud.com. Alexandra Hebard tied for second in the high jump on the girls side for the Huskers.

Invitational Meet

LoHud.com also reported in the same piece that Hen Hud hosted the Section 1 Hammer, Javelin, Walk Invitational on May 30. Lakeland/Panas' Andrew Furman placed third in the hammer.

Boys Lax

Section 1 champion Yorktown (16-4) defeated Section 2 champ Queensbury 18-7 on Saturday at Clarkstown South High School to win the Class B regional championship and advance to the state semifinals on Wednesday at 8 p.m. against Section 8 titlist Garden City at Hofstra University according to Rob DiAntonio's story on MSG Varsity.

The Huskers will be looking to avenge last year's 10-8 loss to the Long Island school in the state final four, which was held last season at White Plains High School.

Brian Prestreau (4G, 1A), Nick Mariano (3G, 3A), Connor Vercuysse (3G), Conor Gately (2G, 3A) and Frank Fusco (2A) led the way against Queensbury.
