Yorktown Schools to Dismiss Early on Wednesday

Wednesday's Nor'easter is expected to bring high winds, rain and snow to the region.

The Yorktown Central School District will be dismissing school earlier today in anticipation of Wednesday's Nor’easter, which is expected to bring high winds, rain and snow to the region starting Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday morning.

The order and timing of dismissal is as follows: 

  • Yorktown High School at 10 a.m.
  • Mildred E. Strang Middle School at 10:45 a.m.
  • Crompond Intermediate School at 11:30 a.m.
  • Brookside and Mohansic Elementary Schools at 12:15 p.m. 

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory starting at 1 p.m. with wind gusts expected to be up to 57 mph.

"Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use caution," the advisory read. 

Little or no snow accumulation is expected this afternoon.
