Yorktown, Lakeland Schools Closed; Somers on 2-Hour Delay Monday

BOCES in Yorktown is also closed while the Somers School District is operating on a 2-hour delay.

The Yorktown and Lakeland school districts are closed Monday due to the weather conditions and reported icy roads in the area. 

Both school districts were originally on a 2-hour delayed opening, but because of the continuing poor weather conditions district officials said they decided to close. 

All afternoon and evening activities at are canceled including Westchester Community College classes.

Also closed on Monday are: Yorktown Head Start, Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES, St. Patrick's School, Lakeland Children's Center. 

The Somers School District is operating on a 2-hour delayed opening. 

The National Weather Service has a special advisory warning about the storm sweeping our way from the southwest. It is in effect through Monday, Dec. 9 at noon. The icy conditions could result in hazardous travel conditions Monday morning, the NWS warned. 

Forecasters predict more snow is likely Tuesday morning. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches are possible.
