Snow Day: Schools Closed due to the Weather

Lakeland and Yorktown schools districts have declared another snow day.

The snow and slippery road conditions have caused schools throughout the area to close today. This is the third snow day in January because of the weather. 

Yorktown and Lakeland schools districts are closed, and all afternoon and evening activities have been cancelled, including Westchester Community College classes. 

Other closings include: Yorktown Head Start, Yorktown Presbyterian Preschool, Lakeland Children's Center and Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES have also closed.

According to the National Wether Service, snow, freezing rain, and sleet is expected before noon today. The precipitation will change over to rain by early afternoon. The total daytime ice accumulation expected will be 0.2 to 0.4 of an inch; and the snow and sleet accumulation will be 1 to 3 inches. 

All motorists are warned to be careful on the roads during the morning commute.
