SEF Honorees Make 'Giving Back' Real

This spring, as usual, the Somers Education Foundation is honoring four local individuals for their distinguished service at its annual Gala.

Here's the third Patch post about the honorees: meet John Reilly, volunteer extraordinaire.

John Reilly has immersed himself in a wide variety of impactful activities across Somers that have enriched many children. He has served in the Somers Youth Sports Organization (SYSO) as a boys and girls basketball coach and as a football coach. Reilly has also been a den leader and cub master in Somers Cub Scouts.  Currently, he serves as vice president of the Somers Booster Club, alongside fellow SEF honoree Chris Ward. The Booster Club has launched many initiatives that have benefited the community and its children, including the acquisition of scoreboards, the Leave a Legacy brick project and the awarding of seven scholarships each year to senior athletes. Reilly is also the registrar for the Somers Girl Scouts Organization, assisting his wife and fellow SEF honoree Kathleen Reilly. He is also a former board member of the Somers Democratic Club. He is a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service. Reilly is a graduate of Fox Lane High School and the Rochester Institute of Technology. The Reillys are 22-year Somers residents and have been married 23 years. They have two children, Bridget and Patrick.
