Release: Yorktown High School Students Perform at Local Nursing Home

Eight Yorktown High School students from performed a dance show at the Tarrytown Hall Care Center last month.

Eight students from performed a dance show at the Tarrytown Hall Care Center last month. Various styles of dance were featured, including ballet, hip hop, jazz, Irish, Latin, swing, and hustle.

"They have been unable to attend my dance shows lately, so I decided to bring the show to them," said organizer Lauren Boutross, whose grandparents currently live in Tarrytown Hall. "They inspired me to spread my love of dance with them and the other residents."

YHS principal Joseph DeGennaro said Boutross is a "creative and patient person," and as the president of the Dance Company this year, it is no surprise to him that she would coordinate the entire experience for the benefit of the senior citizens.

Luis Lizarzaburu, Alison O'Connell, Aneek Halperin, Lauren Boutross, Cristina Zangaglia, Dana DeGennaro, Diana Pernicano and Jake Hernandez (pictured here) also pursue their love of dance as part of Yorktown High School's Dance Company, a club of more than 100 students who meets daily during the school year.
