Pied Piper Students Performs "Toy Story" to Entertain Local Seniors

Children from Pied Piper Preschool's Summer Camp program performed the play "Toy Story" at three local residences for senior citizens.

Children from Pied Piper Preschool’s summer camp program performed the play “Toy Story” at three area residences for senior citizens. The 28 children performed at the Seabury at Fieldhome on Aug. 18, the Country House on Aug. 17 and the Somers Manor on Aug. 16.

Kathy Dineen, director of the Yorktown Heights-based Pied Piper Pre-School said bringing the kids to the residences bridges the gap between them and the older people, gives them an idea of the aging process and gives them a chance to do something positive for the community.

The children, ages between 5 and 8, did the casting themselves and chose what they wanted to perform. While the students go out in the community for various performances throughout the year, for some children, performing the play was something they would not have otherwise experienced, Dineen said.
