Man Wins $25,000 Scratch-Off

His ticket was purchased at the Steinmann Deli in Yorktown.

Christmas came a little bit later for one Dobbs Ferry resident who won $25,000 in the New York Lottery.

Carmine Mobilia purchased his winning Multiply Your Money! scratch-off ticket at the Steinmann Deli at 2712 Gomer St. in Yorktown Heights. Mobilia will be able to cash in his prize at one of the lotteries services centers, which includes Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway.

The New York Lottery is the country’s largest and most profitable lottery, according to the press release, which contributed about $2.9 billion in 2011-12 for New York State Education. The lottery contributes 15 percent of total state education funding to local schools districts.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
