Lakeland to Host First Annual 'Elementary Math Night'

From the Lakeland Central School District:

Parents and guardians are invited to the first annual Elementary Math Night in the Lakeland Central School District on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Cafeteria A at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School.

Following a short opening presentation, attendees will move into one of five workshops. The five workshop topics will include the NYS Math Assessments; the Common Core State Standards; My Math, the district's primary elementary school math resource; additional resources for parents, and the Engage NY online platform.

"Our goal is to provide a forum for parents to better understand the landscape of K-5 mathematics in Lakeland and to furnish them with some tools to help their children," said Chris Ruggiero, District Director of Mathematics.

There will also be many opportunities throughout the evening for questions and answers.

Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School is located at 3401 Old Yorktown Road in Yorktown Heights. Babysitting will be available.
