Lakeland Science Students Place Second and Fourth at Westchester Science & Engineering Fair

Lakeland students take second and fourth place in the Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF).

students took a second and fourth place in the , held on March 10 in Sleepy Hollow High School.

More than 300 students from 33 area schools presented their science research at the competition. 

placed 2nd in Earth Science and Tyler Cohen placed 4th in Physics and Astronomy. Nadell also received the American Meteorological Association award. This is not the Lakeland student's first visit to the competition as Nadell .

Meanwhile, Michael Perrone received the RICOH award and the Intel Computer Science award and ' Troy Hugick received the American Meteorological Association Award.

Other student accomplishments include Destination Imagination teams qualifying for the state tournament.

Teams from and qualified for New York State Destination Imagination (DI) State Tournament at the Eastern Regional Tournament at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry on Saturday.

Walter Panas High School's "Outside the Crayon Box" team will be joined at the state tournament in Endicott, NY on March 24 by the Solar Seven from Benjamin Franklin Elementary School. Seven DI teams from Lakeland took part in the competition with the top two teams in each of six challenges moving on to the state tournament.

Teams from Lakeland Central School District included two from , two from , two from , and one from . There were more than 50 teams competing at this year's regional competition.
