The girls are students at Lakeland, Walter Panas and Brewster high schools.

The Alpha Omicron Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recently awarded grants to five local high school girls who plan to become educators.

Jocelyn Lividini and Taylor Anderson of Lakeland High School, Mary O’Reilly, Ashley Offenbacher and Taylor Anderson of Walter Panas High School, and Miranda Loguercio of Brewster High School received the honors at a luncheon where they were awarded the certificates.

The girls have shown exemplary educational ability as well as the motivation, dedication, and skills necessary for becoming outstanding teachers, officials said.
