Van Cortlandtville Elementary School to Host Government Tea

History comes to life at Van Cortlandtville Elementary School on Wednesday, Jan. 12 when the schools fifth grade holds its annul Government Tea. The event will take place between 8:45 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.

As part of their Social Studies unit on government, Van Cortlandtville Elementary School students study important governmental figures. The students are asked to select a historical or current governmental person, become an expert on that person and then assume the role of this person at the annual "Governmental Tea." 

Various members of the government officials, community members, parents and other friends and family will attend and enjoy a cup of tea with important figures ranging from George Washington and Eleanor Roosevelt to Sarah Palin.

In addition to dressing as their historic figure, students are prepared to answer questions about the chosen figure.
