Crompond Intermediate School Hosts Annual Science Fair

On Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., students at Crompond Intermediate School will host a science fair for their families to come experience the results of severalweeks’ work.

The following day, students from both the Brookside and Mohansic third grade will visitand learn from their peers.

The science fair, a tradition at Crompond Intermediate School for over 30 years, is a non-competitive event where approximately 312 fifth graders work in pairs or individually to create nearly 200 projects.

The fair relates directly to the students’ use of controlled studies, or experiments, in the sciencecurriculum, conducted using the scientific method: research question, hypothesis, procedure, results and conclusion.

“Many thanks to the students, fifth grade teachers who took the time inclass to be sure their students were organized and completed their studies in class, Ms. Kathleen Muldoonand Ms. Pauline Quinones, who played integral roles in the organization and preparation for the fair, and most especially to Ms. Donna Iennaco, science lab CTA, who worked tirelessly to pull it all together," principal Ken Levy said.
