Another Weight Loss Gimmick Unmasked

If you can collect part of the settlement, please donate the money to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

It was reported last week that the company that makes Sketchers sneakers has agreed to pay $40 million for claiming that wearing their sneakers helps you lose weight and tone your body.

The Federal Trade Commission reached an agreement with Sketchers to settle a class action suit.

It still amazes me that people think that they would lose weight or get in better shape just by wearing a type of sneaker. But people are always looking for an easy way out and hence we have all those ridiculous weight loss and fitness infomercials.

If you purchased one of their line of Shape Up, Resistance Runners, Tone Ups or Toners guess what? You can collect part of the settlement. Consumers can submit a claim at www.skecherssettlement.com.

If you do so, please donate the money to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
