Renowned Restaurateur Visits Educated Palate

When chef and restaurateur Peter Kelly eats at your establishment, you know your food must be good.  Students at the Educated Palate restaurant at The Tech Center on the campus of Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES earned the distinction of setting a place for Kelly this week at their April in Paris luncheon.

“There is a very high level of professionalism here,” Kelly said of the student-run Educated Palate. “The students are amazing; from the front of the house to the back of the house, the professionalism is obvious.”

Briarcliff Manor School District Superintendent Jim Kaishian was also a guest. “I’m really impressed by the staff and food here,” Kaishian said. “Everything is delicious—I’m really enjoying it!”

Guests sampled a salad of endive, blue cheese and candy-spiced walnuts; beef bourguignon; and homemade strawberry Napolean.

Though their luncheon guests were formidable, the students’ professionalism came through. Students in the Culinary program are serious about their future in the field, and they get a premier education at The Tech Center.

“I really like how I’ve learned so much about the business,” said Alia Galvez from Brewster. Galvez wants to continue her studies in Advanced Baking next year.
