Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES Launches Mobile App

Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES today announced the launch of its PNW BOCES mobile app, a one-stop source of information for students, parents, teachers and the community.

The app will benefit not only parents and students who attend the Career & Technical Center and Fox Meadow, Pines Bridge and Walden schools, it also will benefit educators throughout the region who rely on BOCES for professional development."

The app puts workshops and courses offered through BOCES’ Curriculum Center, Center for Educational Leadership, Guidance & Child Study Center and Hudson River Teacher Center at users’ fingertips. Users will be able to not only see when workshops and programs are being offered, but register for those programs right from their phones.

“BOCES is not only launching an app for its own use. The School Communications Service is working with a number of local school districts to bring their own apps on line,” said Lane. “The Mahopac Central School District has an app now, and Carmel Central School District and Briarcliff Manor School District will be on line soon.”

For local school districts, the app not only provides access to news, directories, calendars, videos, social media and emergency notices, but also provides sports schedules and scores. In addition, districts may choose to include links to parent portals containing information on student assignments and progress.

In local districts, parents may choose to receive news from specific schools as well as choosing to download specific sports or events calendars.
