It may not have been fashion week in New York, but it may as well have been for Fashion Design students who visited the ENK Coterie Trade Show at the Jacob Javits Center last week. Lisa Tobin’s students from The Tech Center at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES got to see more than 1,000 designers presenting their Fall 2014 lines.

“The show and what it’s all about fits into my future goals by showing me the different types of styling and design tips, tricks, new ideas, and ways of the fashion industry that I can use to help me conquer my future goals and job endeavors,” said Laura Walther, a Hendrick Hudson High School junior. “I feel very blessed that I was able to have this enriching experience through BOCES.”

“Even though I’ve always been interested in fashion design and studying it in college, this field trip helped me to explore even more options and see the business side of fashion through the eyes of a buyer,” said Carly Lembo, a Lakeland High School senior.

The trip both inspired the students and helped them to see another side to fashion. “I learned there is so much more to the business than I thought,” said Nina Williams, Lakeland High School junior.
