Yorktown Promotes Employee to Town Comptroller [Video]

Patricia Caporale, a Yorktown resident, was sworn in as town comptroller by Yorktown Town Clerk Alice Roker.

Yorktown resident Patricia Caporale, deputy comptroller for the town of Yorktown, was promoted to town comptroller by the Yorktown Town Board on Tuesday night.

Caporale was sworn in by Yorktown Town Clerk Alice Roker and was presented with flowers by her husband and daughter. She will earn an annual salary of $92,750.

The position of town comptroller was vacated by Joan Goldberg, who served the town for 16 years, when she took the job of the first-ever town administrator in North Castle in September, 2012.

Caporale has acted as the full-time comptroller since Goldberg left and helped the town with its 2013 budget.

"I can tell you – for me in particular – you've blown a big dose of very fresh air into the comptroller’s office," Grace told Caporale before her appointment. "I find you an absolute pleasure to work with and I think the town of Yorktown should be very proud of you and all the work that you've done. And it's a great pleasure to be able to promote from within and it's very well deserved."

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
