Yorktown GOP Begins 2013 Candidate Search

The deadline to apply is Feb. 21. The interviews will be conducted in March and will be followed by a vote of the Committee to officially endorse its candidates.

Election season is just around the corner and the Yorktown Republican Town Committee is beginning its process for interviewing candidates for the November 2013 elections.

The Yorktown Republican Party is seeking interested candidates for the offices of County Legislator, Town Council and Highway Superintendent, Yorktown Republican Chairwoman Serafina Mastro said. Prospective candidates may apply by sending a copy of their resume and a cover letter to the committee.

"Under the leadership of the current administration, Yorktown has reduced the size and cost of government, paved the way to open dozens of new businesses, while improving the quality of life for all of our residents," Mastro said. "With this year's elections quickly approaching the Yorktown Republican Committee is seeking candidates who will continue to work with the administration to further their success."

Mastro said committee members welcome any interested candidate with the same beliefs of "smaller and more affordable government" to submit their resumes for consideration.

"This is a great way to experience the democratic process as well as serve your neighbors and community," she said. "Within the past four years Yorktown residents have clearly voiced their desire for a more affordable and effective government which is exactly what the current administration led by Supervisor Michael Grace has accomplished."

The deadline to apply is Feb. 21. The interviews will be conducted in March and will be followed by a vote of the Committee to officially endorse its candidates.

All interested candidates are being asked to email a cover letter and resume to chair@yorktowngop.com or by mail to PO Box 252, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598. Any questions can be directed to Mastro at (914) 497-7460.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
