Sandy Watch: Leaf Bag Collection Suspension and Storm Cleanup

Yorktown is requesting residents do not place leaves or debris on or near curbs.

The town of Yorktown said Hurricane Sandy will bring heavy rains and high winds to the area through Tuesday. 

Kim Angliss-Gage, recycling coordinator for the town's Environmental Conservation Department, has issued tips for residents on storm cleanup which was posted on the town's website

  • Do not set leaf bags at curbside during this storm.
  • The collection of Leaf Bags will be suspended in Sections 1, 6 & 7 this Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30
  • During the storm, if branches fall on your yard, in order for our crews to pick them up, branches must be cut to a max. of 4’ in length, bundled and tied with a strong cord. Once at curbside call this office so that we can add your address to our collection list. As a reminder, we do not pick up logs.
