Original article:
Voter turnout at Heritage Hills in Somers has been steady and busy all day with people waiting in line to cast a vote. More than 1,500 people had voted at Heritage Hills by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and polling inspectors said they'd seen a heavy stream of voters all day.

Lou Bongiovi told Patch that he thinks it's busier than it usually is during a Presidential Election.

"I'm encouraged as a citizen because I hate apathy and when people don't vote, it's apathy," he said. "I think there is some interest in the local election, but it might be that the local population is not happy with the way government is going."

Bongiovi said there had been some quirks, but that "generally speaking it's working."

Some senior citizens who voted on Tuesday said they had problems with the voting machines and some said they weren't even sure if their votes counted.

Bob Rohrbach, of Somers, said he had never missed a chance to vote. The candidates he was voting for on Tuesday, he said, had to be "fiscally conservative" and wanting to "keep the budget down."

"It's important, we – as U.S. citizens – should have our choice," Rohrbach said of why he votes.
