Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables visible in their cars.

A number of vehicle break-ins in Yorktown this past week has the police reminding residents to lock their vehicles – even if parked in their driveways – and not leave any valuables visible in their cars.

Yorktown Police Lt. Robert Noble said this week the department received reports of incidents in the areas of Campbell Road, Cordial Road, Hilltop Road, Mohansic Avenue and in the parking lot of Club Fit in Jefferson Valley.

The incident at Club Fit was reported at around 7:15 a.m. when a witness spotted a suspect described as a "male, black, tall, in his thirties' driving a white BMW with New Jersey plates, police said.
