Yorktown Police Stop Man for Speeding, Find Heroin and Multiple Hypodermic Needles

A 23-year-old Mahopac man, who was stopped for speeding on East Main Street in Yorktown, was found to be in possession of heroin and multiple hypodermic needles, police said. 

He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle, both misdemeanors; as well as speeding, a traffic infraction.

Police said the man was stopped for speeding and during the routine traffic stop on Aug. 3, he was found to be in possession of the heroin and multiple hypodermic needles.

The man was arrested at the scene and transported to police headquarters for processing on the above charges.

He was later released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Sept. 5.
