Yorktown Police: Putnam Valley Man, 21, Steals Items from Sears

A 21-year-old Putnam Valley man resident has been arrested for stealing merchandise from Sears, Yorktown police said. 

Jeremy Whalen was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Police allege Whalen had taken items, valued at $74.99, and attempted to exit the store without paying. 

Whalen was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was later released without bail and scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 20.

So few people shop there that it is easy to get caught as most of the employees have little else to do but watch out for this sort of thing. Their commissions should be paid on how much theft they stop rather than how much they sell. It's much easier to steal from Kohls.
