Yorktown Police Adds Extra Security at Elementary Schools
There are no threats, but police say they want local residents to feel safe.
In reaction to this morning's , Yorktown police officers were stationed on Yorktown and Lakeland school grounds at dismissal time on Friday.
Yorktown police Lt. Robert Noble said a police officer visited each elementary school within the Lakeland and Yorktown school districts as a precaution.
"There was not any indication that any local schools are/were in danger and there has not been any threats that I am aware of," Lt. Noble told Patch.

Reports from Newtown, CT, have confirmed the death toll: 20 children, 6 adults, including the shooter, and one adult victim at a "secondary scene" in Connecticut.
