Yorktown Man Charged with TD Bank Robbery in Jefferson Valley

Mark A. Sindaco, a 33-year-old Yorktown resident, was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony.

The man wanted for the robbery of a TD Bank branch in Jefferson Valley late Monday afternoon has been caught, Yorktown police said today.

Police received an anonymous tip from a person who recognized a photo of the suspect that appeared in a Yorktown-Somers Patch story, which resulted in the arrest of Mark A. Sindaco, a 33-year-old Yorktown resident, police said.

He was arrested on Dec. 4 at around 10:10 a.m. at his home and was charged with first-degree robbery, a felony, Yorktown police Lt. Kevin Soravilla said in a press release.

Police said Sindaco went into the bank on Dec. 3 at about 4:50 p.m. and passed a handwritten note to the bank teller threatening he had a handgun and demanding money. He got away with less than $2,000 cash and fled on foot.

The bank was open at the time of the robbery with several employees and at least one customer inside the bank, police said. No weapon was displayed and no one was injured during the robbery.

Yorktown and Westchester County police officers used search dogs to comb the Jefferson Valley area in search of the man on Monday, but that turned unsuccessful. Police obtained surveillance video of the robber and circulated his image to the local media.

Sindaco was taken into custody without incident and was transported to police headquarters where he was processed on the charge.

The man is being held awaiting arraignment on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
