Yorktown Man Arrested for Drug Possession at Sparkle Lake

The following information was provided by the Yorktown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 27-year-old Yorktown man has been arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana while at Sparkle Lake Park, said. 

Police officer Rapisarda was on patrol at Sparkle Lake Park on Sept. 5 at about 11 p.m. when he observed the occupants of a vehicle to be acting "suspiciously," police said. When he approached the vehicle, police said he smelled marijuana. 

Investigation revealed the defendant Giuseppe Marsala was allegedly in possession of controlled substances, as well as a small quantity of marijuana.

Marsala was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

He  was placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters for processing. The defendant was released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 4.
