Yorktown Cops: Somers Man Leaves 2-Year-Old Child in Car While Shopping

A 53-year-old Amawalk man is facing a criminal charge for leaving a 2-year-old child in his vehicle for several minutes while he shopped at the CVS in Yorktown, police said.

The man was arrested on Oct. 15 at about 5:50 p.m. and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Police responded to the parking lot of the CVS, located on Commerce Street, after they received a call that a child was left alone in a vehicle.

Police said the man left the child in the car for several minutes while he shopped at the store.

He was processed at police headquarters without incident, released and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Nov. 19.
