Yorktown Cops: Man, Woman Steal $136 Worth of Clothing from Sears

A 55-year-old Putnam Valley man has been arrested for being in possession of stolen clothing from a Yorktown store, police said.

Police said the arrest stems from a Sept. 18 incident when an unidentified woman exited Sears without paying for $136 worth of clothing and that once she was outside the store, the man took possession of those items, police said.

Both the men and woman fled the scene, police said.

The man was later identified and arrested on Oct. 15 when he voluntarily appeared at police headquarters. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.

He was released on $500 and scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Oct. 17.
