Yorktown Cops: Man, 34, Writes Bad Checks to Victims

Police said they received three complaints from victims in late 2012 for having received checks on an allegedly closed account by Bennett.

A 34-year-old Carmel man has been arrested for writing bad checks to three victims, Yorktown police said.

Jason Bennett was charged with three counts of petty larceny; and one count of issuing a bad check, misdemeanors. 

Police said they received three complaints from victims in late 2012 for having received checks on an allegedly closed account by Bennett. When police weren't able to locate the man, they issued an arrest warrant.

He was located at the Putnam County Jail on Feb. 19, where he was being held on unrelated charges, and Yorktown detectives arrested him.

Bennett was processed at Yorktown police headquarters, bail was set at $5,000 cash, and the man was returned to the Putnam County Jail. He was scheduled to appear in court on March 21.
