Yorktown Cops: Cortlandt Manor Man, 50, Charged with Felony DWI

Police said the man was a customer of Salsa The Latin Eatery and reportedly left the business in an intoxicated state. He was charged with a felony DWI because he had a prior conviction for drunk driving within the past 10 years.

A 50-year-old Cortlandt Manor man, who was a patron at a Yorktown business Saturday night, is facing a felony drunken driving charge, Yorktown police said.

Police received a call on Aug. 10 at 8:08 p.m. that a customer of Salsa The Latin Eatery, located on Hill Boulevard, had left the business in a possible intoxicated state. He was described to be driving a dark colored Saturn and was headed westbound on Route 6.

Officer Ryan Noone was dispatched and saw the driving to be operating the vehicle "erratically and with insufficient tail lights" on Route 6. The vehicle was stopped on Strawberry Road and the operator identified as Robert V. Cegielski.

Investigation revealed the man was driving while intoxicated and was placed under arrest. A computer check revealed Cegielski had a prior conviction for drunk driving within the past 10 years.

He was charged with a felony driving while intoxicated; as well as two counts of failure to maintain lane, and having insufficient tail lights, traffic infractions.

Cegielski was remanded to the Westchester County Jail on $1,500 bail. He was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Aug. 15 at 6 p.m.
