Woman Gets to Police Station After Being Choked, Threatened

A woman walked into State Police barracks in Cortlandt May 20 to report domestic violence.

Subsequent investigation by both state police uniform and BCI members determined that a 25-year-old Lake Peekskill man choked her, took her cell phone to prevent her from calling the police, and threatened to kill her and himself with a .22 caliber rifle.

He was arrested and charged with Assault 3rd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, and Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, all Class A Misdemeanors.

He was then arraigned before the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court and sent to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash bail.  He is scheduled to reappear in court on June 5.
