A 26-year-old Somers resident faces a burglary charge after she allegedly stole various items of jewelry from a Mohegan Lake home, said.
Angela Shepard was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.
Investigation of the incident began on Friday, April 6 when two Lake Ridge Road residents reported the burglary to police. Both victims told police they knew the suspect, a friend of a family member, and that she alleged drove away when they called the police.
The suspect's name and vehicle description was given to other officers in the area. She was located driving on Route 132 near the Taconic State Parkway, where she was stopped. Police said various items of jewelry, alleged to have just been stolen, were allegedly found inside her car.
Shepard was placed under arrest and brought to police headquarters for processing. She was issued orders of protection against the victims and held on $25,000 bail.
The defendant is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
