Westchester County Executive to Reveal 2014 Spending Plan Friday

For the fourth year in row, Astorino will propose a budget with no tax levy increase.

By Rasheed Oluwa:

Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino is expected to release his budget proposal for 2014 today at 11 a.m., inside the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains.

Officials gave few details about the proposal Thursday, but said the plan will feature no tax levy increases. This will be the fourth year in row that Astorino has unveiled a budget proposal with no levy increase.

At about the same time last year, Astorino proposed a $1.7 billion budget for 2013 that would have laid off 126 County workers.

The Westchester County Board of Legislators later agreed on a controversial deal that restored 27 jobs that were cut in Astorino's proposal, along with budget cuts proposed to programs such as ArtsWestchester and the Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Check back later today for details on Astorino's latest spending plan.

The Michaelian Office Building is located at 148 Martine Ave.
